RACHEL ZOE RESORT 2016

RACHEL ZOE RESORT 2016

Doyenne of La Vie Boheme, stylist designer Rachel Zoe launched a collection replete with nomadic luxe for her Resort 2016 display. Ebullient gypset combinations were the order of the day, radiating playful charm.

The collection opened with a knitted intarsia grape and mulberry, plunge, column, floor grazing maxi dress. Gold lurex fauna ensconced the dress whilst flame red autumnal leaves added a jolt of colour to the ensemble.

Nonconformist, three piece suiting featured loose, tailored shorts, tuxedo blazer and a pussy bow blouse in a floral tomato and ebony hued print. A striking full length double breasted trench was worn nonchalantly over shoulders.

Wild child peasant folklore ruled on a lace up, corded, deep decolletage, floor sweeping dress. Details included bell sleeve and drop waist hemline. Red carpet worthy eveningwear came in the form of a coruscating sequin full length dress. Candy stripes in shades comprising of magenta, raven, eggplant and cherry lit up the incandescent garment. The dress featured an open back cut dangerously low above the gluteal cleft. Are you ready for your close up?!

A cranberry aubergine ombre shag coat was paired to a cropped sangria hued turtleneck and matching body skimming column maxi skirt. Team with a floppy fedora and round sunglasses for the ultimate in seventies allure.

Boysenberry narrow suede flared trousers sat neatly on the hip and were married to a tandoori, liquid satin blouse complete with neck tie and bishop sleeve. An elongated faux fur vest completed the look. As the seventies trend continues to prevail on runways worldwide, Zoe showcased a heavenly suede, fringed trench coat in burnt terracotta reminiscent of aromatic spices you'd uncover at an Indian spice market. A patterned satin scarf resulted in an outfit emitting pitch perfect style.

A streamlined, long tuxedo vest in ivory was paired to languid trousers complete with black racing stripe adornment. A transparent blouse added delicacy to the masculine tailoring.

A silver sable flecked stole starred alongside an alabaster poetic blouse and a textural boxy duster coat with leather trimmings. Cropped, flare trousers revealed triple strap crystal encrusted stilettos, a glam accession for day or night.

A raven, collarless sateen jacket featured black and gold fringing which encompassed the jacket's entirety. Leather and suede flared chaps were a titillating addition. Perfect for the night owl.

A burnished gold, metallic, diaphanous maxi was undeniably the trophy dress of the collection. Details included a flounce bib, bishop sleeve and a cummerbund waist in a luxuriously sheer, iridescent fabric. Platform wooden mahogany wedges concluded the look.

Embrace your inner bohemian and look to local designers Alice McCall, Unreal Fur, Carla Zampatti, Bianca Spender, Ellery and Little Joe for your fashion fix.

Jayson Brunsdon Spring/Summer 15/16

JAYSON BRUNSDON S/S 15/16

Australian designer Jayson Brunsdon delivered a classically minded collection with a dash of androgynous refinement for his Spring / Summer 15 / 16 MBFW collection held at The Carriageworks. Pertinently titled 'A Rose Is A Rose', a quote from celebrated lesbian author Gertrude Stein, meaning "I am what I am", Brunsdon expressed the freedom to love of a romantic and rebellious spirit.

Madison Stubbington opened the collection in a raven shimmer Le Smoking jacket which was twinned to an ivory silk and organza French lace dress which fell elegantly above the ankle. Patent brogues added a touch of masculinity to the ensemble.

An ebony lace shell top was paired to a pearlescent peach French brocade pencil skirt. Streamlined feminine allure dominated the look. French brocade continued to star on an opulent duster coat which was teamed to a sequin ball skirt with delicate whispers of tulle adding ethereal qualities. Retro tenderness best describes this stylish concoction.

Mannish tailoring proved popular on languid crepe trousers which were cut wide and loose throughout the leg. An alabaster lace and duchesse shell featured sweetheart built in bodice and an asymmetrical, gargantuan bow complete with raw edge. The shell was shrunken to reveal a pane of torso baring flesh.

Retrofied leopard print in the punchy shade of watermelon frequented a sleek, knee grazing femme fatale skirt. A sensual black lace shirt featured luxurious silk collar. The time honoured black patent court shoe concluded the look. For those with a penchant for fifties rockabilly style look no further than the leopard boxy blazer complete with pocket square. Sleeves were pushed up nonchalantly and waist attenuated by a minimalistic leather belt. A black sequin tulle swirling skirt dandified the ensemble infusing enchantment to the mix. For French Riviera with a rock n roll twist try the black paillette lace tee top which was married to a taffy, black and ivory cabbage rose organza skirt.

The classic white shirt was updated in the scene stealing shade of vermilion, the silk placket oozed with grandeur. The shirt was accessorised with a delicate lace scalloped neck tie which cascaded elegantly. A black paper bag waist, lurex, jacquard heirloom skirt concluded the look.

The collection drew to a close with a series of majestic eveningwear looks bursting with pulchritude. Standouts comprised of a blanc and noir lace coat twinned to a matching sweetheart cropped camisole and duchesse 7/8 skirt.

As the models took to the runway for the finale a surprising outpouring of fresh scarlet rose petals cascaded from the ceiling adding a charming conclusion to the collection.

Jayson Brunsdon stated " The collection embraces a raw glamour, rebellious in attitudes towards gender mixing feminine and masculine styling".

Versace Fall 2015

VERSACE FALL 2015

Queen of enticement, Donatella Versace transported models to the seventies and eighties decade for her Fall 2015 collection. Pulsating energy was injected throughout with glamazon powerhouse connotations reminiscent of the original ubermodel era prevalent.

Versace  sweetheart, Natasha Poly took to the runway in a rigorously cut, pinstripe coat dress. A mammoth belt complete with lustrous silver square belt buckle attenuated the waist. A venetian red turtleneck featured a Greek key motif which also accompanied opaque tights and a plush, quilted envelope clutch. Saturated cherry red frequented a sleeveless, funnel neck, jersey mini dress. Details included step flounce hem, crystal embellished belt and peek-a-boo slit positioned high on the neck. Stretch suede thigh high boots were finalised with a Greek character chrome heel and platform sole as worn by catwalk maestro Karlie Kloss.

An oversized canary yellow shag coat was married to a turtleneck blouse which was tucked neatly into high waisted, flat front, tapered trousers  in a streamlined arabesque. The fur coat also starred in a knee grazing version in a brash shade of emerald green modelled by Kaitlin Aas.

A compelling skater girl raven dress was amplified with a libidinous decolletage splice revealing a window of flesh. The fluid skirt featured a titillating thigh split.

A riot of primary colours was evident on a ribbed, cropped, shrunken bomber jacket emblazoned yet again with the Greek Versace key motif. Eye popping royal blue, jade green, aureolin and crimson made for an electrifying combination. A mid thigh length full circle skirt added a flirtatious edge. Logos galore were plastered across garments throughout the collection, think monogram sweaters, leather jackets and hip hugging flares cut short on the ankle.

German model of the moment Anna Ewers modelled a star spangled, crystal encrusted, beaded and sequined strapless mini dress. Hashtags and @ symbols graced the mesmeric, lavish number. The Versace characters adorned chain bracelets adding a kitsch element to the ensemble.

Other covetable garments included an asymmetrical cocktail dress in the mood boosting shade of sunglow yellow, a fire engine red cape coat accessorised with gargantuan sunglasses, turtleneck and patent leather thigh boot which oozed with fetishism. For the enigmatic, the staple ebony trench dress was updated to feature tooled leather Greek key panelling.

A collection replete with rebellion and devil may care attitude. Exemplary for the statuesque beauty with a penchant for all things lavish.

Gucci Fall 2015

GUCCI FALL 2015

Designer Alessandro Michele unveiled his debut Gucci collection at the helm this Fall 2015 at Milan Fashion Week. The collection evaded all the Gucci hallmark features of its previous predecessors including Tom Ford and Frida Giannini. Disparate qualities echoed throughout. Unconventional, enigmatic looks lacked the inescapable ostentation Gucci is famed for.

The collection opened with a series of vintage looks which included leather midi skirts with sunray pleating detail in shades of vermilion and toffee, which were teamed to a transparent aspirin dot mesh blouse complete with floral ivory adornment and a sheer plunging, muted plum camisole. Accessories comprised of a simplistic dagger pendant necklace which fell deep on the decolletage, a warm chocolate beret, oversized geek tortoiseshell spectacles and lace up ebony heels complete with pom pom accoutrement.

Lackadaisical bohemia reigned supreme on a silk flounce dress bursting with floral charm. The body skimming number fell elegantly below the calf and starred in a color palette consisting of lavender, rose, avocado and forest green. The look was finalised with camel, oversized fur slippers decorated with Gucci horsebit gold hardware.

Michele seemingly rummaged deep into a vintage treasure trove with op shop combinations exuding the sixties and seventies era. Harleth Kuusik modelled an ombre hued mocha latte fur coat which was twinned to a saturated sage crinkle scarf with gold fauna embellishment. Patent tomato red, slingback kitten heels featured plush fur lining which poked coquettishly from the foot's heel.

Sexed up secretary was the running theme for a thigh skimming sheath in fire red. Blossoms ensconced the dress with sunray pleat bib and sleeves.

Bold jacquard suiting frequented an elongated narrow blazer with two button closure. Languid matching trousers in a striking enlarged floral print in shades of sapphire, bronze and pewter added seventies deluxe qualities. A colossal sized teal corsage finalised the look.

An iridescent rose gold and bronze waisted dress fell below the knee. The chevron pattern was married to dusty salmon fur cuffs and a powder puff blue pussy bow scarf with ebony rose corsage. Masculine leather loafers hardened the silhouette.

Other garments included barely there sheaths oozing of nineties grunge, granny knits, Sergeant Peppers inspired numbers, mismatched haphazard combinations of lace tea skirts twinned to embroidered sweaters, herringbone scarves, cable knit beanies, Peter Pan collars and military influenced overcoats.

Time will tell whether this contemporary design direction will resonate with the Gucci customer who has a strong appetite for unsurpassable glamour.
