Jason Wu Resort 2014
Jason Wu Resort 2014
Eponymous designer Jason Wu's latest display was an admirable, irrefutably modern line up. Amplified, sinuous tailoring bestowed hardened, feminine qualities.
A capacious, monochromatic, tuxedo jacket featured two gargantuan toggles, embellished black and white pencil skirt complete with palm leaf detail. A cropped, ebony, ribbed, bouffant sleeved, midriff baring, crew neck sweater replete with high low hem was a sassy addition twinned with high waisted, knee length pencil skirt and a muted grey hem panel. The abstract, enlarged, flourishing print was the focal point of the garment. Cat eye inspired wayfarers, a box minaudiere in black with gold trimmings and clasp was teamed with strappy black and white shooties complete with white polka dot criss cross detail breaching the breadth of the foot.
A tree frog green, patent leather overcoat paired with pristine, white shirting was worn tucked into tailored gunmetal, silver and white print shorts. This was just one example of the succession of bourgeois ensembles on offer. Mid calf gladiator heels were back with vengeance, toughening up the aesthetic of the collective.
A chartreuse, high waisted, tropical print, tap short and matching bralet was the epitome of fifties, screen siren chic. Head to local Australian design duo, Ginger and Smart this spring to emulate this look. When I attended their MBAFW collection I found analogous runway looks in shades of sorbet, perfect for an iconic, Australian summer. A neutral trench featuring large collar and colossal gun fold detail lent an understated air to the look.
A succession of denim looks high on limpidity were on display and included a medium wash, loose fitting tee and pencil skirt, double denim ensemble, a 3/4 sleeved round neck tunic with simplistic oversized two pocket detail and prominent gold stitching detail. Lastly a cropped denim, pillow sleeved aviator jacket was paired with a tropical cami and denim a-line skirt. Quintessential modernism mixed with nineties denim finds reigned supreme.
Sleek, polished swimwear in clean minimalistic lines included a trompe loeil effect one piece in black and white with tropical print deep plunge v-neck panel and black cross over strap decolletage detail. A mammoth keyhole graced another one piece swimsuit with waist cutouts referencing athleticism. An emerald, duchesse satin, balloon sleeve button coat was married with navy boy leg swimwear and matching bandeau top.
Artisanal, embroided, palm leaves played a starring role on eveningwear. A gauzy, chiffon, cutaway, phosphorescent dress encapsulated the models lithe body. Black satin breast pockets, placket and collar were sexy yet demure. Dainty craftsmanship bursting with pulchritude was clearly evident.
A breathtaking, ornate, boatneck ebony dress was an example of pure inhibition. A culmination of seductive closing runway looks comprised of a cutaway peony pink flesh, transparent halter sheath which would right at home in the boudoir. An asymmetrical, deftly draped floor length snow white gown, a lemon butter open back, tailbone peplum gown, very Grace Kelly and finally a duchesse satin strapless bustier, triangular torso cutout floor sweeping gown complete with full, diaphanous skirt. Creating a strong nod to the House of Dior.

Jason Wu Fall 2013
Jason Wu Fall 2013
Jason Wu's Fall 2013 collection was an uplifting display of bourgeois chic married with glossy grandeur, bursting with pulchritude. Injected with sheer glamour, nothing was understated about this collection.A stark, monochromatic palette ruled the runway, think snow white, ebony and gleaming silvery snakeskin. Pops of colour came in the form of golden chartreuse, lady bug red and cobalt.
An abundance of garments celebrating the female silhouette were on offer.
Martha Hunt opened the show in an effervescent black trench featuring velvet panelling, fur pockets and shoulder pleating detail. A skinny belt and leather gloves accompanied the look.
Sure to be a firm favourite of fashion editors aplenty was a cinched, leather biker vest, nostalgic of the 80s/ 90s powerhouse, supermodel era. The vest featured plush grey and black large fox fur collar teamed with a pristine, french cuffed shirting and man style trousers, exploding with charm.
A heavenly fur coat in the purest shade of white featured tiered sleeves and oversized, rounded shoulders.
Trench coats were an integral part of the collection. A belted, transparent, digital lace printed trench resembled a raincoat, the most dashing raincoat to ever grace ones wardrobe, with collar protruding effortlessly. Ginta Lapina glided down the runway in a colour blocked charcoal and black trench, featuring lace print torso panelling with black sleeves, collar, pocket and classic gun detail.
A shrunken, moto jacket in liquorice crocodile featured peak shoulders and sharp tailoring twinned with mid thigh grazing, whimsical, white, finely pleated skirt. A toffee parka with four ample fur pockets and generous wrist strap detail exuded Burberry's hallmark aesthetics.
For cocktail hour, a white, high necked, sleeveless marabou feathered number was a frothy delight. A mesh and grey lustrous snakeskin bustier dress complete with snakeskin boning and pleating was a flirtatious addition.
Footwear erupted on the scene with power and conviction. Peep toe boots, stiletto heels with braiding detail were a fierce concomitant. Black, satin ribbon high heeled stiletto sandals featured patented heel and were reminiscent of Tom Ford's Gucci glory days.

Jason Wu Spring 2013 Ready To Wear
Jason Wu Spring 2013 Ready To Wear
Young
illustrious designer, Jason Wu showcased a piquant Spring 2013 Collection. The
designer steered away from his usual design philosophy and moved into new territory
seamlessly with a collection nostalgic of old Hollywood glamour meets modern
day provocation.
The
collection's themes consisted of the ultra feminine whimsy versus masculine
dominatrix androgyny.
Striking
garments included a tough leather, panelled crocodile shift with delicate lace
inserts, a black leather apron with T-bar back complete with laser cut floral
hem and a sheer chiffon trench blazer with features including leather placket,
cuffs, collar and slimline belt.
The
underwear as outwear trend had a strong presence on the runway as a result of a
collaboration with luxe lingerie house, La Perla. An abundance of lace was in
attendance.
Nude lace
brassieres and leather bustiers were paired with high waisted flirty, flounce
skirts. Pencil skirts with subtle peplums were on display. Stovepipe and
cigarette leg trousers offered clean, crisp, polished tailoring.
The colour palette was monochromatic with pops of navy and coral. A
cheeky coral lace onesie was a playful addition. A pussy bow blouse in the
sheerest of sheer chiffon was teamed with a decadent lace pant. A nude cropped quilted
moto bomber jacket was redolent of sophisticated sass.
Accessories
included skinny leather harnesses, fishnet gloves, black face nets, leopard
minaudieres, hat box handbags, a white leather & leopard satchel, and
oversized sunglasses.
Fabulous
footwear involved embellished chiffon peep toe stiletto bootie, leopard
stiletto with nacre ankle strap detail and lace court shoe with black toe cap
complete with crystal encrusted heel.
Chic side
part chignons added glamour. Luminous porcelain skin complimented glossy
crimson lips. Dark, lacquered nails were in the shade of ebony.
