Jayson Brunsdon A/W 2015

Jayson Brunsdon A/W 2015

Australian design virtuoso, Jayson Brunsdon produced a jubilant line up aptly titled 'GLAM' for his A/W 2015 collection.  The seventies decade was prevalent as Brunsdon delved into the realms of Pop Art sensation Andy Warhol for inspiration. Other influences included rock goddess Debbie Harry and pop sensation David Bowie. Brunsdon fused the iconic personalities with the sensuality of French fashion photographer Guy Bourdin's work, resulting in a collection oozing with empowerment and impeccable glamour.

Standouts included the 'Ziggy Jumpsuit' which featured racer front neckline with raven collar and opulent brocade bodice in sumptuous shades of orchid, aqua, cinnamon, ebony, mint and silver. The jumpsuit was nipped in at the waist to reveal high waisted trousers in languid proportions. The look was complete with silver centre plunge zipper and brocade detailing on hip pockets, a dapper accession.

Music idol Blondie played muse to the 'Glitter Rock Jacket' in opalescent silver and black. A boxy, modern day tuxedo jacket bursting with androgyny which was perfect for the rock renegade and a surefire scintillating addition to the wardrobe. A liquid silk fringed scarf accompanied the silk 'Cabaret Shirt'. The shirt was worn unbuttoned coquettishly for a look brimming with allure and insouciance. High waisted black and silver flecked trousers in relaxed proportions featured ice silver waistband detail which concluded the look.

Release your inner disco diva with the halter plunge mini dress. An effervescent party pleaser complete with lustrous silver sequin skirt grazing the upper thigh complemented by a black cummerbund attenuating the waist. A disco ball is mandatory! An iridescent gold sequin version featured short sleeve detail for those wishing for slightly more coverage.

Ostentation reigned supreme on a powder pink 'David Bowie Stole'. A bourgeois accessory and the epitome of all things lavish. Brunsdon teamed the stole to the 'Razor Blade Skirt'which starred in tomato red with asymmetrical stem hem. A cropped, round neck 'Psychedelic Top' featured floral brocade panelling with a distinct oriental twist. Oriental influences continued to dominate on the 'Bianca Gown', a striking, one shouldered evening dress complete with gold floral panelling creating a trompe loeil effect. A provocative thigh split made for a high voltage finish.

Textural mash-ups, in clashing fabrics worked harmoniously together to create a bold statement. A graphic, fuchsia and ebony skinny ribbed knit was married to the 'Glam Rock Pant' in magenta, copper, black and gold flared trousers. An opulent leopard fur stole worn casually over shoulders exuded lavishness.

Polished perfection ruled on the double breasted, above the knee 'The New York Dolls Coat' which emerged in medium bleached denim. Leopard fur adorned the cuffs and collar adding prestige to the equation. Denim lent a modern edge to the garment which had mod-squad connotations.

A ravishing collection delivered with magnetism and conviction. Stylish majesty produced by design king Jayson Brunsdon yet again.

Jayson Brunsdon is available at MYER stores nationally including the Designer Collection, Black Label Collection and Home Collection.

Saint Laurent Resort 2014

Saint Laurent Resort 2014

Highly regarded, industry heavyweight, Hedi Slimane showcased a collection rich in consummate class and attitude for Saint Laurent's Resort 2014 Collection. Piquancy and uncluttered lines dominated the collective.

Model Sasha Pivovarova starred in the series of liberated photographs oozing with rebellion. It was a major comeback debut for Pivovarova who has been out of the spotlight since the birth of her daughter Mia Isis in May 2012 to photographer Igor Vishnyakov. A industrial warehouse, concrete playground set the scene with the city skyline acting as a backdrop through the oversized panes of glass.

The opening look comprised of YSL's famed, unisex, Le Smoking tux, exploding with androgyny. The edgy jacket was slightly cropped and shrunken for rock star appeal, worn bare chested of course. Tailored trousers fell cleanly on the ankle to reveal sky high, teetering, stiletto pumps. A modern, minimalistic, ultra skinny leather belt and graphic cuff were the accessories of choice. Pivovarova's stance eluded confidence brooding within, the pure element of the YSL woman. I'm pictured top right embracing the Saint Laurent aesthetic.

Dishevelled, undone glamour accompanied the look replete with bed head, tousled tresses and smouldering, smoky, bedroom eyes.

An ebony, strapless, chiffon, gathered babydoll mini dress with empire line arabesque featured a double buckle waist cincher complete with grommet infested detail. A tuxedo bolero in sensual satin was paired with a sequined, boatneck, mini dress drawn in at the waist by a heavy duty chrome belt.

Red carpet worthy eveningwear came in the form of a strapless, sweetheart neck line, gathered, bustier gown featuring a high- low hem falling to the knee and trailing behind gracefully. Architecturally and sculpturally driven with romantic connotations this dress was brimming with Ralph Lauren characteristics.

Pure sex appeal reigned supreme on a python digi print, embellished, collarless jacket complete with black iridescent cuffs, inbuilt lapels and welt pockets. A structured peak shoulder lent a strong silhouette. A sheer blouse was worn underneath, unbuttoned to the navel. Unadulterated, rock n roll, bohemian, classicism.

Robustness was evident on a chrome, boxing belt featuring hexagonal plates married with double layered ivory, Grecian style, asymmetrical dress rich in fluidity. A gladiatorial air was present.

Other standout garments included a pearl emblazoned, leather blazer married with paper bag, cuffed, leather shorts in more demure proportions.

Accessories consisted of a Hermes inspired Kelly bag featuring padlock detail. Show stopping chromatic, silver, platform stiletto pumps with zig zag detail were a dynamite annexation. A large, ivory, envelope clutch with shiny silver hardware and a miniature crocodile clutch in patent leather with chain shoulder strap and YSL initials as the centerpiece were chic must haves. Waiting list alert- apply now! A silver YSL logo cuff was a bourgeois accessory which will no doubt thrill the legion of dedicated YSL fashion followers devastated by Slimane's decision to change the original name of YSL to Saint Laurent.

Roberto Cavalli Pre Fall 2013

Roberto Cavalli Pre Fall 2013

Roberto Cavalli's latest line up was a visual ambiance resplendent of a dark, enchanted forest. Majestic artiness teamed with mannish tailoring were the hallmark features of the collection.

Meghan Collison morphed into creations referencing poetic romanticism imagery.

Heralding looks included an oversized, fox fur coat, tiered in shades of ebony, ivory, nude and coffee paired with cow hide print, pony skin, flared, wide leg trouser, pervading nonchalant ease. A black, androgynous sweater came complete with fur torso panelling and high- low hem.

Cavalli's signature staple tuxedo, a weapon of seduction made an appearance yet again, this time updated with Florence Broadhurst print lapels, black shirting buttoned up to the neck with front flat placket and brooch centrepiece adornment.

A psychedelic, monochromatic, feather printed trench was worn belted, featuring contrasting houndstooth tweed belt and lapels. An impeccably polished, grey black, python, double breasted jacket with anorak characteristics featured luxurious, fur collar which framed Collison's shoulders. Digital lace was plastered over drop waist tunics. Liquid, embellish like scales were evident on a long sleeve, knee length, black, turtleneck dress resulting in the fluidity of an underwater sea creature. Leather jackets featured opulent fur peplums complete with braided waist and shearling collar. The look was twinned with tooled leather, pencil skirts.

Scrawled, calligraphy like digital prints reminiscent of the French artist Toulouse Lautrec's burlesque paintings were found on dramatic, black lace, gossamer chiffon, eveningwear. Think modern day, goth, lavishness.

Velvet suiting was teamed with satin waistcoat and white shirting complete with priests collar.

Swash buckling pirate references crept in on suede, boxy jackets with eyelet detail resembling sutures dissecting and deconstructing the garment.

Bold, characterful jewellery included bejewelled ear climbers, jade knuckle cocktail rings, neck ornamentation comprising of silver bars, gold chains and medieval motif, feathered cuffs complete with multifaceted gems. A diminutive black and gold minaudiere featured gold dragon symbolism, other minaudiere textures included embossed, leather snakeskin. The fox fur theme continued on ankle strap, high heeled sandals in shades of ivory and rustic brown.
