CHANEL PRE FALL 2016

Designer, Karl Lagerfeld of Chanel, delivered a Pre Fall 2016 collection enriched in Parisian upper crust elegance. Poised, lady like demure ruled the runway with a dash of come hither thrown in for combined attitude.

Models emerged from a faux Paris Metro Station in striking arabesques. Australian model Catherine McNeil, made her catwalk comeback and opened the highly coveted position in a monochromatic black and white, oversized, check, tweed coat worn nonchalantly over the shoulders. The coat was teamed to a thigh grazing, tweed shift dress in alabaster. Signature chain ribbon trimmings graced the hemline, pockets and neckline. Tights in a collage of lace were paired to white mules complete with pointy, black, toe cap.

A bourgeois, polished, ebony pea coat featured statement making gold insignia buttons. A silk satin, bow embellished, mini dress oozed with finesse.

Androgyny came in the form of an oversized, waxy leather coat, with enlarged collar worn protruding from the neck finalised with diamante encrusted buttons. A relaxed, silk, shirt dress was teamed underneath and brimmed with masculine qualities. A scintillating silver collar graced the neck and starred a large, circular, ring centrepiece.

Leather continued to frequent the runway and ignited a petal applique, three quarter sleeve mini dress with leather panelling. A full length, wool coat was a textural delight. A patent leather, quilted, cap sleeve crop complete with lace insert was twinned to a navel baring pencil skirt, featuring a scalloped lace hem which fell delicately above the knee. An onyx, diamante chain belt dangled from the torso while sparkling diamante cuffs adorned wrists. Kohl rimmed glitter eyes and an undone, demi-beehive evoked Brigitte Bardot with sex kitten connotations prevalent. 

Sanne Vloet modelled an ornate, wheaten turtleneck emblazoned with crochet, beading and Nordic Fair Isle  knitted inserts. A languid maxi skirt, pearl bejewelled cuffs and pearl spangled footwear concluded the look.

Vanessa Moody took to the runway in an ostentatious, sweetheart neckline, lace velvet, baby doll, drop waist, mini dress. Strips of crushed velvet cascaded from the hips. Silver and raven floral buttons plunged down the centre. A tantalising, lavish number, finalised with a crush velvet bow choker and gargantuan silver hoop earrings.

Intricate craftsmanship ignited a couture midi length gown. Floral applique showcased a colour palette comprising of storm, ink, oyster grey and midnight. A patent leather tie and white collar shirt were seamlessly moulded into the dress exuding grandeur  and consummate class. A quilted, wool, full length coat starred the matching blooms with enchanted romance dominating throughout.

Gossamer airiness took centre stage on an Art deco inspired, high neck, bishop sleeve, blouse. Black lace, gold and silver beading flourished, brimming with old world charm. A drop waist, midi length, lace swirling skirt exuded femininity. 

Stylish majesty reigned supreme on a black scalloped lace and navy panelled, apron, evening gown. The transparent skirt revealed the hallmark feature lace tights. Dainty feathers strewn throughout added fragility to the sheer number. Accessories comprised of a metal ring choker layered to scalloped lace neck piece and a sapphire hued minaudiere. 

A breathtakingly beautiful display set to seduce the fashion pack.

Dolce and Gabbana Spring 2015

Supremely skilled design duo Dolce and Gabbana produced an impeccably glamorous Spring 2015 collection replete with spicy Spanish flavours enlivened with sensuous bewitchment.

Saturated scarlet starred on a jacquard, ornate baby doll dress. Silver and gold hearts ensconced in jewels added regal finesse. A black lace fluid skirt completed the look.

A crisp white tuxedo shirt was married to a cropped duchesse satin matador jacket with lavish black braiding detail. A matching waistcoat and knickerbocker accompanied the look.

A basic scoop neck, white lace tank was paired to a black bralet and high waisted, sculptural mini skirt, in ostentatious gold. White lace daisy motifs were emblazoned throughout with statement making crystals adding plenty of bedazzle. 

A simplistic round neck tunic with bell bottom sleeve featured lustrous silver heart fabric throughout, romance reigning supreme. 

Statement making vermilion rosettes were a dramatic hair accessory reminiscent of the headpieces donned by Mexican artist Frida Kahlo and complemented a lace brassiere which was married to a transparent boned corset dress. A tiered, full circle ebony skirt brimmed with grandeur. Jewellery comprised of minimalistic gold cross necklace and gold drop black beaded earrings. Lace socks worn mid calf were paired to velvet Mary Janes.

The sloping shouldered, cocoon cape coat was revived this season  in lady bug red and white carnation print. A decadent accession worn buttoned at the top of the neck and twinned to matching shift dress. A majestic, rigorously cut, white round shoulder, short sleeve jacquard dress was embellished with gold, red and silver hearts. A kitsch, flamboyant number with a mix of sass and sophistication.

Zhenya Katava modelled a striking, decadent, robust, gold peplum corset encrusted with dainty rosettes and rubies. A lace bralet peeked coquettishly from the top of the bust. A sheer, silk drop waist midi skirt with black scalloped lace hem and waistband was a grandiose, aristocratic combination. A jewel interlined crown graced Katava's head accompanied by vermilion rosettes.

Bold flamenco polka dots flourished on a high waisted tiered, voluminous skirt falling mid calf. The characterful skirt enveloped Sam Gradoville's physique. A lace bodice with subtle sweetheart neckline offered a splice of torso baring flesh.

A sheer aspirin dot maxi sheath featured round neck, long sleeves, gathered waist and blooming carnations embroidered throughout in the opaque shade of blood red.

A collection oozing of ingenuity, Dolce and Gabbana moved into new territory with this Spanish inspired collection leaving behind their Sicilian roots for a disparate display punctuated with vivacity.

Shona Joy Spring 2014

Sydney based designer Shona Joy's latest installment was a culmination of modern contemporary garments in abstract expressionistic prints. Fractured blossoms channelling artist Georgia O'Keefe were prevalent throughout. Saturated hues in elongated silhouettes offered striking arabesques.

The collection commenced with the 'Gallery Bustier Midi Dress'. Features included a v-spliced neckline, exposed gold back zip and panelled polyester floral print in shades of midnight, grape and clouded dove grey. This multi hued print continued on a succession of garments including a cutaway crossover body con dress, shift dress replete with ebony mesh inserts, racer font crop top and matching high waisted pencil skirt.

Bold turquoise, white, black and peach sorbet shades flourished on a racer mini shift dress with a dose of athleticism thrown into the mix. The print continued to star and amplify a sweetheart bustier cleverly draped mini dress, a maxi dress complete with asymmetrical hemline and gathered waist creating an interplay of draping. A more modest option for those not wishing to sport micro proportions this spring. For the lover of separates, a trend set to explode this summer, the boxy tee and relaxed mini short is a great option sure to satisfy the artist within with a strong penchant for all things Prada.

Colour blocking played an integral role in the collection and was evident on a bright tangerine, white and black off the shoulder, body con dress complete with shoe string straps, cut-out triangle detail at the side torso and centre front. The polyester, viscose and elastane blend was a winning combination, fashion forward and practically minded. Cotton polyester rayon lace in the shade of black frequented a mesh spliced midi dress. The transparent panels added a sensual edge to the demure silhouette. The fabric also dominated on a bustier jumpsuit and for the fashion fearless- culottes.

Leopard devotees will rejoice at the snow leopard 'Impressionist Racer Mini Shift Dress'. Updated with fresh spearmint and white panelled hem. Kimono fans will covet the poetic 'Mini Robe Dress'. Fluidity and romanticism reign supreme with billowy sleeves adding an oriental twist.

Zadig and Voltaire Spring / Summer 2014

Dishevelled, yet polished panache and Parisian glamour were the words that best conjured up the imagery of Zadig and Voltaire's S/S 2014 Collection.

Cecilia Bonstrom's latest display was the epitome of effortless, undone chic.

Hanne Gaby Odiele opened the show with plenty of swagger, modelling a slip dress, cascading mid thigh with grey scalloped lace trimmings. A collarless black and white woven rabbit fur jacket was accessorised with black cuffs resembling hardware and dainty gold bracelets. Cumbersome versus fragility were the juxtapositions prevalent. Delicate gold rings encased fingers.

Black, leather cropped trousers with reinforced pockets and side panelling were teamed with an embellished, antique lace blouse in the shade of white, kaftan style. A black fedora and chain handle shoulder handbag featuring leather tassel detail concluded the look.

A black leather, shrunken moto jacket complete with quilted shoulders was married to a jacquard bralet with a smattering of subtle crystals.

A Navajo inspired belt, worn slung low on the hip was teamed with a black mini skirt, layered with sheer lace, sequin adorned harem pants, only for the fearless.

A black silver, snakeskin, jacquard asymmetrical dress for after five, was accessorised with a statement making, black leather fringed shawl. Urban cowgirl crossed with luxe bohemian hippie best described the look.

Purism came in the form of white slouch suiting with relaxed proportions. The suit was worn with a silk camisole. Yellow piping detail on the trousers added an unexpected element to the look. A leather lace up, silver mesh tank was paired with a billowy, floor sweeping, dramatic lace kimono, reminiscent of dark gothic glamour. For a more affordable price point look to label 'For Love and Lemons' whose aesthetic is analogous.

Grunge elements were evident on a strapless, leather onesie worn mid calf with a strong dose of nonchalant appeal. A drop waist with pleat detail and spike trimmings lent a creative edge. A liquid gold sequin blazer with structured shoulder was coupled with a sheer, gold lurex tee dress, deconstructed at the neckline. A black triangle bra and knickers were worn underneath for modesty.

Jolts of venetian and candy apple red were found on barely there crochet knits spliced with black and white sporadic inserts. A dip dye woven rabbit fur coat, falling mid thigh complete with white fur trimmings was teamed with distressed, bleached denim shorts.

Covetable bijoux launched this season and colossal cross stud earrings and mixed metal bracelets were lust worthy accessories.

The staple Zadig and Voltaire grey and white snakeskin print appeared on a onesie teamed with metallic silver crocodile clutch and flat black buckle futuristic silver moto boots. Lurex socks made another runway appearance with designer Hedi Slimane of Saint Laurent showcasing comparable socks just days earlier in Paris.

Mid western references crept in on a excessively fringed leather mini skirt,leather shell top with fringing descending over the bust and lastly a boatneck leather dress skimming the body.

Burberry Resort 2014 Collection was a heady mix of polished luxury deconstructed and provocative librarian twinned with classic, heralding Burberry DNA. Ladylike, panache contours were evocative of sugar and spice woven with a dash of naughty and nice.

The introductory look constituted of an ivory angora jumper with ribbed cuffs, shoulder and band detail, jewelled collar featuring oversized citrine gems with bronze and crystal accents. This was paired with a transparent, stretch lace, tube skirt which had a crochet like effect. The skirt was of midi length proportions, Christopher Bailey's choice hemline of the collection. It was married with towering, sculptural, peep toe wedge ankle booties in the shade of winter white. These boots would look right at home in an art installation at the Museum Of Contemporary Art.

A military inspired, boiled wool trench in ebony was worn belted by an ultra skinny leather belt buckled and knotted ever so chicly. A juxtaposition of a thick, cumbersome wool paired with a fine, delicate belt. Structured, peak shoulder detail and wrist strap detail added finesse. 

Ethereal, dark glamour came in the form of a Victorianesque, high neck, lace blouse featuring flat front navy placket. A soft sumptuous clutch in the hue of bubblegum pink was tucked under the arm offering a strong volt of colour. 

Architectural lines graced a collarless, peplum jacket complete with flower like corsages acting as epaulets, a matching streamlined trouser finished the look. A midnight, doily lace overcoat had Japanese, kimono references, this was paired with a transparent, ebony, lace shift.

Dolce and Gabbana, Prada, Emilio Pucci and Roberto Cavalli influences were apparent on numerous runway looks including a white, intricately embellished tee featuring diamond and floral sequin motifs married with Spanish lace, scalloped hem tube skirt, completely sheer, leaving little to the imagination. Opaque undergarments are a necessity.

A charcoal, long sleeve, button down polo top was accompanied by a sequin, gossamer, a-line skirt starring exquisite craftsmanship on embroided flowers. The time honoured khaki trench was reinvented with jewelled rosettes scattered throughout the body of the trench adding a touch of allure and ostentation.

Shades of pistachio made appearances on a stretch lace, knee length dress complete with tiered columns of lace on the bodice. A mint cashmere cardi complete with Mother of Pearl buttons was teamed with matching cashmere cami which was tucked into a burnished bronze tube skirt with white back panelling. Pastels continued to reign supreme on an ice blue, sculptural jacket which sat neatly on the hips, this in turn was paired with a white floral stretch lace dress.

An inviting eveningwear look came in the form of a deep forest green, off the shoulder, exposed decolletage, midi length, body con dress with cross over bust ruched lace detail with refined embellished waist belt.

Leather envelope clutches and crocodile totes dominated the runway in vibrant shades of strawberry red, eggplant, emerald, butterscotch caramel and peach Bellini.

Ginger and Smart Spring / Summer 2014

Sisters Genevieve and Alexandra Smart of Ginger and Smart produced a directional collection replete with immaculate tailoring. Ebony, architectural lines encased and punctuated garments whilst peony blossoms softened the hardened exterior.
Fashions model of the moment, Julia Nobis opened yet another show in a structured blazer worn lackadaisically around shoulders. This look was paired with conformable bralet, very Dolce and Gabbana, high waisted, fitted pencil skirt and cement shaded leather gloves. Navy, sky blue and ivory platform sandals with ankle strap detail completed the look.
Other looks included cropped, man style pant suit in sky blue linen silk comprising of loose, fluid trouser, bralet and streamlined blazer. A mesh and floral digi motif, relaxed fit crop was married with tailored, floral short and elongated silhouette blazer.
A Roland Mouret inspired creation came in the form of a black cap sleeved dress featuring sculptural torso panelling and caged floral peony bodice. A result ending in a clever play on visual illusion.
A cropped, monochromatic Archetype jacquard pant was paired with a boxy, collarless jacket and a minimalistic dark cocoa and black leather tote, think House of Celine.
Athleticism crept in on a cropped, halter blouse in black featuring delicate, whimsical,antique, ivory lace overlay. This garment was paired with the 'Incision' jacket in blackberry silk and 'Love Bite' high waisted, panelled pants in blackberry lace, oozing with effortless charm.
A runway standout sure to fly off the racks this spring / summer was an effervescent lace and silk crew neck, body con, ivory and black above the knee dress, featuring black scalloped lace 3/4 sleeves and trompe l'oeil effect panelling, drew attention to the waist. Polished, ladylike black suede and leather gloves finished the look.
Sumptuous guava sorbet 3 piece suiting bursting with allure is inevitably set to be on the wish list of fashionistas aplenty.
A Proenza Schouleresque ensemble comprised of navy, cobalt, mint and emerald cropped, jacquard jacket, cropped exotic undulating leopard silk shell top and high waisted scuba inspired pencil skirt featuring navy and mint panelling, pure finesse. 
A multifaceted, geometric, kaleidoscope of colour was evident on a kimono style, plunge v-neck blouse featuring spliced shoulder detail.
Hi-tech fabrics such as coated linen with leather like qualities graced garments including stone jodhpurs.
Closing runway looks included poetic, flourishing florals which made an appearance on athletic arabesques and a striking pant suit full of vivacity.

Deftly designer Peter Dundas of Emilio Pucci unveiled an intriguing Fall 2013 Collection. A discordant mixture of textural fabrics and punchy contours draped lithe bodies erratically.

Sasha Luss opened the show in an intricately embellished, gunmetal grey, navy and sapphire decadent long sleeve blouse, tucked into signature Pucci scarf print, high waisted skirt, high low hem flounce detail in shades of muted lavender, black and white. The look was drawn together with a tiger, ponyskin waist cincher belt and palatial thigh high, second skin, suede boots in rich toffee.

Kasia Struss modelled high waisted ebony tap shorts, paired with beaded fringed collarless jacket in lunar accents. The look was completed with a gauzy, transparent, polka dot blouse featuring plunge, key hole, navel slit alluding suggestiveness.

Dense, woollen cape coats in monochromatic black and white featured Italian renaissance prints complete with generously sized stud trimmings.

Bouffant, dolman sleeved, silk scarf print dresses came in the form of micro proportions. Shades included cotton candy paired with dove grey and azure teamed with black and white, romantic, poeticism reigned supreme.

An injection of colour was evident on a peacock blue, boiled wool pea coat with military magnetism. Black suede over the knee boots featuring beaded adornment offered plenty of opulence.

An abundance of undulating swirls featuring transparent panelling were found on a saccharine, ice blue, body skimming mini dress.

Signature Pucci ostentation and glamour was seen on a burnished gold, sweetheart neckline, long sleeved cocktail dress starring polka dot decolletage insert. Boudoir inspiration played an eminent role in the collection. La Perlaesque lingerie slip dresses in spiderweb lace were married with exotic zebra print robes highlighted by oversized fur cuffs and collars.

Accessories comprised of zebra ponyskin hobos in camel and black, small neat boxy handbags and a fringed beaded drawstring bucket bag, an eveningwear covet worthy item. Suede thigh high boots in shades of claret, black and toffee dominated the runway, pointy toed patent stiletto slingbacks were a more demure option.

Hair maestro Luigi Murenu created soft faux fringes which swept models foreheads. Matte complexions, flesh apricot hued glossy lips, kohl rimmed eyes, lashings of mascara and false eyelashes lent a distinct 60s/70s beauty aesthetic.

Vera Wang delivered a majestically, sumptuous Pre Fall 2013 Collection, punctuated with oriental magnetism.

Kel Markey opened the show in a burnished, molten, iridescent, raised flower motif shift dress with shoulder pleating detail, waist cinching black leather belt complete with asphalt, elbow length, slouch leather gloves. Sheer, ribbed, black ankle socks bunched around models ankles. Chocolate, peep toe platforms were the preferential footwear. 

Jacquard and damask fabrics resembling rich tapestries exuded regal qualities. A decadent, opulent, amethyst brocade blazer with elongated sleeves and matching tapered trouser was a dapper accession. A black lace blouse featured an oversized, grosgrain bow neck tie. 

Saturated hues of magenta and scarlet highlighted embroided, scalloped hemmed, shifts accompanied by mocha fox fur chubbies. The brocade theme continued on narrow, floor sweeping column skirts, peplum and ruffled hemmed tanks and cleverly draped jacquard wrap dresses swathing models torsos.

East meets west orientalism glided in on modern day, cutting edge, drawstring neck kimono featuring flared sleeve twinned with a tulip skirt.

Tuxedo style chiffon wrap jackets were a sculptural, avant garde addition with a play on proportions. A sleeveless, button up blouse married with embellished, silver rosette applique panelled skirt possessed Japanese influences. A satin, chocolate box trench with beaded collar and pocket detail was a covetable garment. Other standout garments included cocoon shrugs, pussy bow blouses, a lace damask jacquard embellished panelled boatneck dress and molten metal lace shirting.

Jewellery comprised of a series of embellished neck collars and chokers often featuring undulating forms. Ombre and black two tonal leather elbow length gloves were a stylish addition.

Trend prediction alert- Brocade Baroque will host a large presence in Australian Autumn / Winter collections. Key pieces to look for include; brocade sharply tailored blazers, velvet and corded flares, religious scenes plastered on body con numbers, high necked lace blouses, tapestry hotpants, paisley jeans, leather lace up skinnies, embellished hobos, patent pumps and ruffles aplenty. Shades include wine, sapphire, emerald, ruby, gold, bronze and ebony.

Roberto Cavalli has a distinct cognizance of exactly what his customer base desires and his latest spring collection was carried out scrupulously and meticulously to champion true Cavalli style.
The colour palette consisted heavily of black and white. When colour did creep in it was in brilliant shades of orange sorbet, peach, emerald green, lavender and aquamarine which popped against the stark, monochromatic contrast.
Majestically stylish ensembles included a white lace, intricately embellished shrunken blazer with peak shoulder and white lapels. A matching shirt and sleek, figure hugging, hipster trouser complete with glass crystal, encrusted, bead work in swirling Pucciesque patterns resembled a broderie anglaise doily. The narrow trousers lent an elongated silhouette.
A profusion of sizzling, peek a boo cut outs were prominent on eveningwear which featured scintillating embellishment and rich velvets. One runway number channelled a modern day Morticia gothic, neo romanticism quality. Sheer netting mirrored gossamer airiness with an abundance of beaded strips applied to a striking, decadent, evening dress.
The tunic and trouser combo which has proven extremely popular with designers this season was revealed on a white lace, embroided tunic paired with slashed, silk fringed trousers.
Models wafted down the runway in sensual, languid arabesques including an apricot, punched leather insert, lingerie slip dress in a stylish Italian scarf print with flashes of emerald green which worked well against the apricot palette.
Roberto Cavalli released his inner safari with signature, exotic leopard prints and snakeskin panelling. Alluring, shoe string, plunge back dresses consumed of provocation.
Accessories were fearless and included a mash up of jungle predators. A chunky, white tiger cuff, very Bulgari, festooned models wrists. Tigers enveloped models ears on ear cuffs. Silver and pewter rectangular pieces formed chunky bangles, layered upon one another. Coiled snakes and tigers featured on chokers and collars. A multi faceted onyx and gold caged cocktail ring offered lustrous grandeur. A small white, crocodile, ladylike boxy, satchel came complete with gold chain handle. Other finishes included a graphic snake, aqua print bag and embossed leather numbers. Skinny, polished belts came in a selection of metallic, crocodile finishes. An oversized, rose gold pair of sunglasses featured sepia lenses and leaf detail on frames, tres chic. Vertiginous, strappy stilettos in snake pewter were a wardrobe must have.
Overall a effervescent collection celebrating a woman's form and silhouette.

Legendary venerable design duo Dolce and Gabbana continued to reign supreme this season with their latest spring / summer offering which was bursting with pulchritude. 

Dolce and Gabbana drew inspiration from their Sicilian heritage which resulted in an embodiment of all things Italian.

An inescapable fixture of corsetry was highly prevalent. Attenuated waists lent a sculptural silhouette.

A riot of colour was resplendent on prints featuring conquistadors and moor inspired artifacts. Scarf prints were teamed haphazardously with impressionistic fresco style prints. A manifestation of all things kitsch was a hallmark feature.

A multitude of puppeteria characters were emblazoned on garments including shifts, 1950s sirenesque, diaphanous skirts, culottes, head scarves and blousons.

A strong handcrafted artisanal aesthetic was evident on a hessian shift dress complete with nipped in waist and flower applique. A multi coloured macrame bralet and mini skirt was teamed with matching tote and demure sandal oozed of Italian charm. Dolce and Gabbana's signature lace inserts and motifs made an appearance on bloomers, tailored cropped jackets and figure hugging pencil skirts.

Stripes proved popular this season. A red candy striped, breezy boatneck blouse teamed with matching knicker bocker, modelled by Karmen Pedaru, had a distinct vintage swimwear air to it. Zuzanna Bijoch closed the show in a showstopping, museum worthy caged, wicker corset dress with lighter than air chiffon overlay.

Bold, oversized, ornate earrings bared a striking resemblance to a pinada.

This collection was a combination of finesse, ostentation and practically minded garments. Either way there is something to suit everyone's palette.
